Sandy Spring Bank is now part of Atlantic Union Bank, and that change is the reason most QuickBooks connections for these accounts have stopped working. Sandy Spring, founded in 1868 and based in Olney, Maryland, served the greater Washington DC metro across Maryland, Northern Virginia, and DC. Atlantic Union Bankshares acquired it in a deal announced October 21, 2024 and completed April 1, 2025, and the customer systems conversion ran the weekend of October 9 to 14, 2025, after which accounts moved onto the Atlantic Union platform. Any QuickBooks feed set up under the Sandy Spring Bank name from before that weekend has to be relinked under Atlantic Union Bank. While you sort that out, upload a Sandy Spring Bank PDF statement to the converter at the top of this page and get the transactions back in a format QuickBooks accepts.
The converter turns a Sandy Spring Bank PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the running total is checked against the statement before you export. Here is how Sandy Spring connected to QuickBooks, what the Atlantic Union conversion changed, and when converting the PDF is the better move.
Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.
The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.
Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.
OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.
Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.
Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.
One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.
Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.
Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.
Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.
Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Sandy Spring Bank historically worked with QuickBooks through its Business Online Banking, which let you download account activity as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file, along with CSV, BAI, and Quicken (.qif) formats. Since the October 2025 systems conversion, those accounts now live on Atlantic Union Bank, so the live connection runs through Atlantic Union rather than Sandy Spring. If you are setting up a feed today, search for Atlantic Union Bank in QuickBooks. For any older Sandy Spring statement you still need in the books, convert the PDF with the tool above.
Because Sandy Spring accounts converted to Atlantic Union Bank in October 2025, you now connect under the Atlantic Union Bank entry, not the old Sandy Spring one. Sign in to verify your new Atlantic Union online banking credentials first, then in QuickBooks Online go to Transactions, Bank transactions, Link account, and search for Atlantic Union Bank. In QuickBooks Desktop, use Bank Feeds with the Atlantic Union connection. The legacy Sandy Spring connection is retired, so trying to link the old name will fail. For statements issued under the Sandy Spring name before the cutover, convert the PDF instead of fighting the feed.
Sandy Spring stopped connecting to QuickBooks because the bank was absorbed into Atlantic Union Bank and the old online banking platform was shut off during the October 9 to 14, 2025 conversion weekend. QuickBooks still pointing at the Sandy Spring Bank institution cannot authenticate against a platform that no longer exists, so the feed errors out or returns no transactions. The fix is to deactivate the old Sandy Spring connection in QuickBooks and reconnect under Atlantic Union Bank with your new credentials. If you have a gap of statements around the conversion, download those PDFs and convert them with the tool above so nothing is missing from the register.
For current activity, download from Atlantic Union online banking, choosing the QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) format and a date range, then import it in QuickBooks. For historical Sandy Spring activity, sign in to whichever portal holds your old statements, save the PDF, and convert it with the tool above. Sandy Spring's Business Online Banking previously supported .qbo, CSV, BAI, and .qif downloads, but that platform was retired in the conversion, so the reliable way to reach pre-October-2025 data now is the PDF statement.
Sign in to your account through Atlantic Union online banking (the successor to Sandy Spring), open the account, and go to the statements or documents section. Sandy Spring kept about 25 months of eStatements online before the conversion, and that history typically carries into the new platform, so pick the month you need and save it as a PDF. If an older statement is not listed, request it from the bank. Personal and business accounts both produce a standard PDF statement, and whatever the source, the PDF you download converts the same way.
Convert the Sandy Spring PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and choose the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to, then drops them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing. This works whether the statement carries the Sandy Spring name or the new Atlantic Union name, so you can close out the transition cleanly.
Sandy Spring Bank no longer operates under its own name. Atlantic Union Bankshares completed the acquisition on April 1, 2025, and the branches, accounts, and systems were converted to the Atlantic Union Bank brand over the weekend of October 9 to 14, 2025, with full access resuming October 14. The former Sandy Spring locations are now Atlantic Union branches, and sandyspringbank.com redirects to the Atlantic Union site. Your account history did not disappear; it moved, which is why QuickBooks needs to point at Atlantic Union now and why older statements still convert from PDF without issue.
Sandy Spring statements convert cleanly because the layout stays consistent month to month. Personal and business checking statements list transactions in date order with a description and amount, separating deposits and credits from checks, withdrawals, and fees, with a daily balance summary. Commercial and analysis accounts add service-charge sections. The converter strips out the summary boxes, fee tables, and inserts, so only real transactions reach your .qbo file, and it reads scanned or photographed statements through OCR the same way it reads a digital PDF, which helps with the older Sandy Spring statements you saved before the conversion.
Use the Atlantic Union download for going-forward activity now that the conversion is done, since it keeps QuickBooks current with little effort. Convert the PDF statement when you need pre-October-2025 Sandy Spring history the new feed does not carry, when the connection breaks during the relink, when a download comes back as CSV instead of .qbo, or when you need opening balances for a new QuickBooks file, a catch-up month, or a closed account.
Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a transaction costs far more time than it saves. The error usually surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, while you chase a few dollars across a long register. This converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line Sandy Spring printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview first, then export once the numbers tie out.
Upload a PDF, see every transaction extracted in seconds. No card to try it.
