UMB Bank is the Kansas City, Missouri commercial bank held by UMB Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: UMBF), founded in Kansas City in 1913 and now near $68 billion in assets after its January 2025 purchase of Heartland Financial. UMB serves business, commercial, and treasury customers across the Midwest and West, and many of those customers run their books in QuickBooks. If you bank with UMB and need your activity in QuickBooks Online or Desktop, upload a UMB Bank PDF statement at the top of this page to get a clean .qbo file.
The converter turns a UMB Bank PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the parsed total is checked against the statement total before you export. This page covers which UMB to pick in QuickBooks, what the Heartland to UMB conversion changed for your bank feed, and how to import the file.
Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.
The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.
Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.
OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.
Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.
Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.
One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.
Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.
Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.
Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.
Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Yes, UMB lets you bring account activity into QuickBooks, but how you connect depends on which side of the bank you use. Personal online banking and the commercial and treasury platform both let you download transactions for use in QuickBooks and Quicken, and business customers typically run a Direct Connect or Web Connect link behind a treasury login. When that business login will not authenticate in QuickBooks, or a feed stops mid-month, converting the PDF statement to a .qbo file is the dependable path because it skips the connection entirely and still gives QuickBooks a real Web Connect file to import.
Pick UMB Bank, the Kansas City institution held by UMB Financial Corporation, at umb.com. Two things trip people up here. First, UMB Financial also runs fund services and institutional units, so make sure QuickBooks is pointed at UMB Bank and not a separate UMB entity. Second, if you came to UMB through the Heartland merger you may still see a former Heartland brand name in the bank list, such as Dubuque Bank and Trust or Arizona Bank and Trust. Connecting to the old brand after your account has converted is the most common reason a UMB feed will not pull, so choose UMB Bank once your account has moved over.
Heartland Financial USA, which traded as HTLF, merged into UMB Financial on January 31, 2025 in an all-stock deal worth about $2 billion, and HTLF stock was delisted days later. Heartland had already folded its eleven bank charters into one and operated regional divisions including Dubuque Bank and Trust, Wisconsin Bank and Trust, Minnesota Bank and Trust, Arizona Bank and Trust, New Mexico Bank and Trust, Citywide Banks, and Bank of Blue Valley, among others. Those divisions ran under UMB after the close, with banking center and systems conversions scheduled for late 2025, after which each division operates as UMB. The safe move is to download and convert your statement PDFs from the old platform before your account fully converts, so older history is not stranded behind a retired login.
The most common recent cause is the Heartland to UMB conversion. When your former Heartland bank moved onto the UMB platform, the old bank feed was retired and you have to deactivate the old connection in QuickBooks and reconnect under UMB Bank, or you risk duplicate transactions in the register. Business accounts add a second wrinkle, because Direct Connect runs through the treasury or commercial portal with a company-style login and token that QuickBooks cannot always pass. Rather than untangle duplicates or wait for the feed to return, download the statement as a PDF and convert it to a .qbo file, which carries every transaction the bank printed.
Sign in to UMB personal online banking at umb.com, or to the UMB commercial and treasury portal for business accounts, open the account, and go to the statements or documents area. Pick the account and the statement month you want and save it as a PDF. Treasury and commercial customers download from the same documents section after signing in with their business credentials. The converter reads any of these PDFs the same way, so a recent statement and an older one from before the conversion both produce a clean .qbo file.
Convert the UMB Bank PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, then Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and select the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, use File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to, then routes them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing, the same way a live feed would, so the workflow is identical even while a Direct Connect link is down or being relinked under UMB.
UMB Bank statements list transactions in date order with a description and an amount, separating deposits and credits from checks, withdrawals, and service charges, with a beginning and ending balance for the period. Commercial and treasury statements run longer and carry more fee and analysis detail, but the layout is consistent. The converter ignores the summary boxes, daily balance tables, fee schedules, and marketing inserts, so only real transactions reach your .qbo file. It also reads scanned or photographed statements through OCR the same way it reads a digital PDF, so an older printed statement still produces a clean file.
Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a transaction costs far more time than it saves. The error usually surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, while you chase a few dollars across a long register. This converter adds up the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line UMB Bank printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview first, then export once the numbers tie out.
