Upload your bank statement

Discover discontinued its direct QuickBooks downloads in 2022, so you can no longer pull Discover bank or card activity straight into your books with a .qbo Web Connect file from Discover. The converter at the top of this page closes that gap: upload a Discover PDF statement and get back a .qbo file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus Excel and CSV copies, with every transaction's date, description, and amount preserved.

Before you export, the converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total, so the file you import reflects every line Discover printed. Here is what changed with Discover's connection, how to download a statement, and how to import the converted file.

A real .qbo file QuickBooks accepts

Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.

Reconciliation

Every total checked against the statement

The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.

Web Connect

A genuine .qbo, not a renamed CSV

Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.

OCR

Scans and phone photos read line by line

OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.

Volume

A year of statements in one batch

Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.

Locked files

Password-protected PDFs handled

Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.

Exports

Excel and CSV in the same download

One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.

How to convert your statement to QuickBooks

Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.

1

Upload the PDF statement

Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.

2

Review the reconciled rows

Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.

3

Import into QuickBooks

Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Can I connect Discover to QuickBooks?

No longer reliably. Discover discontinued the ability to download QBO and Web Connect files to Intuit products in 2022, so the direct feed many bookkeepers relied on stopped working. Some aggregator connections still pull recent Discover activity into QuickBooks Online, but they drop often and bring in only the last few months. For complete, dependable history, you download the Discover PDF statement and convert it to a .qbo file, which is now the standard route for Discover accounts.

How do I download a Discover bank statement as a PDF?

Sign in at discover.com, open the account, and go to Statements. Discover lists monthly statements as PDFs for both Discover Bank deposit accounts and Discover credit cards, and you download whichever months you need. Discover also offers an activity export that produces a CSV for recent transactions, but that covers only a limited recent window, so for older periods the PDF statement is what you convert.

How do I import a Discover statement into QuickBooks?

Convert the Discover PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, Bank transactions, then Upload from file and select the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to, then routes them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing, exactly like the direct download used to.

Does Discover export to QuickBooks?

Not anymore through a direct connection. Since 2022 Discover no longer offers QBO or Web Connect downloads to Intuit products, and what remains is a CSV activity export for recent transactions only. Converting the PDF statement to a .qbo file replaces what Discover removed, because it turns any month Discover has issued into a QuickBooks-ready import, including the older periods the CSV download and aggregator feeds never reach.

How far back can I get Discover statements?

Discover keeps several years of monthly statements available as PDFs in online banking, far beyond the limited recent window any remaining feed imports. That gap is exactly why converting matters: you can pull a statement from a year or two ago, convert it to QBO, and bring those transactions into QuickBooks even though the live connection was discontinued and the CSV export would never reach that far back.

When to convert versus connect a feed

With Discover's direct download gone, converting the statement is the main method rather than a fallback. Convert each new monthly Discover PDF as it posts to keep QuickBooks current, and convert older months when you are setting up a new QuickBooks file, catching up books, or backfilling a closed Discover account. If an aggregator feed still connects, treat it as a convenience for recent activity and use converted statements to fill everything it misses.

Discover Bank and Discover card statements

The converter handles Discover Bank checking and savings statements and Discover credit card statements the same way, since each lists transactions in date order with a description and amount. Discover card statements, including Discover it, import into the matching credit card account in QuickBooks, while Discover Bank deposit statements import into the bank register. Convert each statement, confirm the account, then import so the right register receives the activity.

How accurate is the converted Discover file?

Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a Discover transaction costs you far more time than it saves. The gap surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, when you are chasing a few dollars across a long list. This converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line Discover printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview, then export with confidence.
