City National Bank of West Virginia is the Charleston, West Virginia bank held by City Holding Company (NASDAQ: CHCO), with about $6 billion in assets and branches across West Virginia, Virginia, southeastern Ohio, and Kentucky. This is the bankatcity.com City National, not the much larger California or Florida banks that share the name. If you keep a business or personal account here and do your books in QuickBooks, upload a City National Bank of West Virginia PDF statement at the top of this page to get a clean .QBO file.
The converter turns a City National Bank PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the parsed total is checked against the statement total before you export. This page covers the three-way name mixup, the feed problems users actually report, and how to import the file.
Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.
The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.
Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.
OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.
Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.
Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.
One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.
Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.
Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.
Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.
Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Pick the one whose website is bankatcity.com. There are three unrelated City National Banks in the United States, and connecting the wrong one is a real risk: this West Virginia bank (City Holding, CHCO, bankatcity.com), the California City National Bank owned by RBC at cnb.com (the so-called bank to the stars), and City National Bank of Florida at citynational.com, owned by Chile's Bci. They are completely separate companies. Match the website, not just the name. If you actually bank with the others, use our City National Bank (California, RBC) statement to QuickBooks or City National Bank of Florida statement to QuickBooks pages.
The bank markets QuickBooks and Quicken integration on its cash management page, saying you can pay bills, transfer money, and download statements into those programs, and it routes setup help to Intuit's support lines. It does not publish a detailed page spelling out Web Connect versus Direct Connect, so the exact method is not clearly documented for the West Virginia bank. Either way, converting the PDF statement to a .qbo file works every time, which is the dependable path when the feed is down or you simply need a closed account's history.
West Virginia customers have reported their City National connection through Express Web Connect failing for long stretches, with downloads that stop after a date and do not resume. Express Web Connect is an aggregated feed, so it breaks when the bank changes its online banking interface and stays broken until both sides update. Be careful reading error threads online, because many titled simply City National Bank are about the unrelated California bank's platform migration, not West Virginia. Rather than wait on a feed fix, download the statement as a PDF and convert it: the file holds every transaction the bank printed.
Sign in to City National online banking, open the account, and go to the statements or documents area. Pick the account and the month you want and save it as a PDF. Business customers use the bank's business and cash management online banking, where statements live under the same documents section. The converter reads any of these PDFs the same way, so a recent statement and an older one both produce a clean .qbo file you can import.
Convert the City National Bank PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, then Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and select the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, use File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to and routes them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing, the same way a live feed would, so the workflow is identical even when Express Web Connect is down.
Pick City National Bank. City Holding has folded several acquisitions into City National Bank of West Virginia, including Poage Bankshares and Farmers Deposit Bank in 2018 and Citizens Commerce Bank of Kentucky in 2023. When acquired accounts move onto the City National platform, the old connection is retired and you reconnect under City National Bank. While a conversion settles, the reliable way to keep your books current is to download the PDF statement and convert it to a .qbo file rather than wait for the feed to reappear under the new name.
City National Bank statements list transactions in date order with a description and an amount, separating deposits and credits from checks, withdrawals, and service charges, with a beginning and ending balance. The converter ignores the summary boxes, daily balance tables, fee schedules, and inserts, so only real transactions reach your .qbo file. It also reads scanned or photographed statements through OCR the same way it reads a digital PDF, which helps with older statements carried over from an acquired bank.
Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a transaction costs far more time than it saves. The error usually surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, while you chase a few dollars across a long register. This converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line City National Bank printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview first, then export once the numbers tie out.
Upload a PDF, see every transaction extracted in seconds. No card to try it.
