Cambridge Savings Bank links to QuickBooks, but two things trip people up: its Direct Connect works only in QuickBooks Desktop, and the Cambridge name is shared by other Massachusetts banks, so it is easy to pick the wrong one. Cambridge Savings is an independent mutual bank, chartered in 1834 and run under Cambridge Financial Group, with branches across greater Boston; it absorbed Melrose Bank in a merger completed June 1, 2020. It is not the same institution as East Cambridge Savings Bank (a separate mutual under 1854 Bancorp) or the former Cambridge Trust Company, which merged into Eastern Bank in 2024. Selecting the wrong Cambridge entry in QuickBooks sends your login to the wrong bank and fails. Rather than fight the connection, upload a Cambridge Savings Bank PDF statement to the converter at the top of this page and get the transactions into QuickBooks now.
The converter turns a Cambridge Savings Bank PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the running total is checked against the statement before you export. Here is how Cambridge Savings accounts connect to QuickBooks, why the link fails, and when converting the PDF is the faster route.
Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.
The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.
Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.
OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.
Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.
Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.
One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.
Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.
Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.
Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.
Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Yes. Cambridge Savings Bank works with QuickBooks. Through Business Online Banking it offers Direct Connect, which downloads transactions straight into QuickBooks without a browser, and it lets you download a Web Connect (.qbo) file to upload manually. The important limit is that Direct Connect is QuickBooks Desktop only and is not available for QuickBooks Online; QBO users download the .qbo file from Business Online Banking and upload it. Converting the PDF statement gives you clean data whichever version of QuickBooks you run.
Select Cambridge Savings Bank (cambridgesavings.com), not East Cambridge Savings Bank or Cambridge Trust. Three different Cambridge, Massachusetts banks have similar names: Cambridge Savings Bank, the independent mutual chartered in 1834; East Cambridge Savings Bank, a separate mutual under 1854 Bancorp; and the former Cambridge Trust Company, which was acquired by Eastern Bank in 2024 and now connects under the Eastern entry. Picking the wrong one sends your credentials to a bank that does not hold your account and fails the link. If you are unsure, converting the PDF statement avoids the institution list entirely.
Cambridge Savings Bank usually fails to connect for one of two reasons. The first is trying to use Direct Connect in QuickBooks Online, where it is not supported, so QBO users must download and upload the .qbo file instead. The second is selecting the wrong Cambridge institution in the list, since East Cambridge Savings Bank and the former Cambridge Trust share a similar name. Direct Connect on Desktop also requires the service to be enabled through Business Online Banking. While you sort out the right path, converting the PDF statement with the tool above is the fastest way to get current transactions into QuickBooks.
Yes, but only for QuickBooks Desktop. Cambridge Savings Bank offers Direct Connect through Business Online Banking, which downloads transactions directly into QuickBooks Desktop without using a web browser. It is not available for QuickBooks Online. QBO users instead download a Web Connect (.qbo) file from Business Online Banking and upload it through Upload from file. If Direct Connect is not enabled on your business profile or you are on QuickBooks Online, convert the PDF statement so the data still lands in QuickBooks.
Log in to Cambridge Savings Bank Business Online Banking, open the account, and use the export or download option, choosing the QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) format and a date range. Import the .qbo in QuickBooks through Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files in Desktop. The live download usually reaches back a limited window, so for older history or a clean one time pull, save the PDF statement and convert it instead.
Sign in to Cambridge Savings Bank online banking, open the account, and go to the statements or documents section to view your eStatements. Choose the month you need and save it as a PDF with the download or print option. Business customers find statements inside Business Online Banking, sometimes under a separate documents or reporting tab. Former Melrose Bank accounts that came over in the 2020 merger keep their statements in the same archive. Whatever the source, the PDF you download converts the same way.
Convert the Cambridge Savings Bank PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and choose the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to, then drops them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing, exactly as a working feed would, no Direct Connect enrollment required.
Cambridge Savings Bank statements convert cleanly whether they come from a personal checking account or a business relationship. They list transactions in date order with a description and amount, separating deposits and credits from checks, withdrawals, and fees, with a daily or ending balance summary. The converter strips out the summary boxes, fee tables, and marketing inserts, so only real transactions reach your .qbo file, and it reads scanned or photographed statements through OCR the same way it reads a digital PDF.
Use Direct Connect on Desktop or the QBO upload for going forward activity, since it keeps QuickBooks current with little effort. Convert the PDF statement when you are on QuickBooks Online without Direct Connect, when the download hands back the wrong format, or when you need history the feed misses: months before the link was set up, opening balances for a new QuickBooks file, a catch up period, or a closed account.
Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a transaction costs far more time than it saves. The error usually surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, while you chase a few dollars across a long register. This converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line Cambridge Savings printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview first, then export once the numbers tie out.
Upload a PDF, see every transaction extracted in seconds. No card to try it.
