Upload your bank statement

Amerant Bank has changed its name and its footprint in recent years, and both kinds of change tend to break a QuickBooks bank feed. The Coral Gables, Florida bank (NYSE: AMTB, about $10 billion in assets) was known as Mercantil Commercebank until it rebranded to Amerant in 2019, and it sold its Houston, Texas operations to MidFirst Bank in November 2024 to refocus on Florida. Amerant does not publish QuickBooks setup steps the way larger banks do, so the cleanest way to get its transactions into QuickBooks is often to convert the statement. Upload an Amerant PDF statement to the converter at the top of this page to do exactly that.

The converter turns an Amerant PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the running total is checked against the statement before you export. This page covers how Amerant accounts connect to QuickBooks, why the rebrand and the Texas sale matter, and when converting the PDF is the faster route.

A real .qbo file QuickBooks accepts

Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.

Reconciliation

Every total checked against the statement

The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.

Web Connect

A genuine .qbo, not a renamed CSV

Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.

OCR

Scans and phone photos read line by line

OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.

Volume

A year of statements in one batch

Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.

Locked files

Password-protected PDFs handled

Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.

Exports

Excel and CSV in the same download

One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.

How to convert your statement to QuickBooks

Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.

1

Upload the PDF statement

Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.

2

Review the reconciled rows

Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.

3

Import into QuickBooks

Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Does Amerant Bank work with QuickBooks?

You can get Amerant transactions into QuickBooks, but Amerant does not publicly document QuickBooks Direct Connect or Web Connect support for its accounts. Its digital banking, including the Amerant Treasury Connect business platform, focuses on payments and account management rather than published accounting exports. That makes the reliable path either a download option inside online banking if your account offers one, or converting the PDF statement. The converter gets every transaction into QuickBooks regardless of whether a bank feed exists for your account.

Why is Amerant Bank not connecting to QuickBooks?

Amerant connections tend to break for two reasons. First, the bank rebranded from Mercantil Commercebank to Amerant in 2019, and a name change like that can leave QuickBooks pointing at a retired entry, so you may need to relink under Amerant. Second, business customers often log in with a company ID plus user ID through the treasury platform, and those layered logins are harder for QuickBooks aggregation to authenticate, so the feed can drop. Converting the PDF statement avoids both problems and still lands the transactions in QuickBooks.

Did Mercantil become Amerant, and does that affect QuickBooks?

Yes. The bank operated as Mercantil Commercebank, spun off from Venezuela's Mercantil Servicios Financieros, went public in 2018, and changed its holding company name to Amerant Bancorp in June 2019, rebranding the bank as Amerant Bank. If you set up a QuickBooks connection under the old Mercantil name, it may have been retired in the rebrand, which is a common reason a feed stops importing. Converting the PDF sidesteps that, because the file imports the same way no matter which entry QuickBooks shows.

What happened to Amerant in Texas?

Amerant sold its Houston banking operations and six Texas branches to MidFirst Bank, announcing the deal in April 2024 and completing it on November 8, 2024, to refocus on its core South Florida and Tampa markets. If your account was a Houston Amerant account, it moved to MidFirst, so any QuickBooks feed tied to it had to be re-established under MidFirst rather than Amerant. For statements from either side of that move, converting the PDF keeps QuickBooks current without sorting out which bank now owns the feed.

How do I download Amerant Bank transactions to QuickBooks?

Sign in to Amerant online banking or Amerant Treasury Connect, open the account, and look for a download or export option, choosing a QuickBooks or spreadsheet format if it is offered and a date range. Because Amerant does not document its export formats publicly, the options you see depend on your account and platform. Import any QuickBooks file through Upload from file in QuickBooks Online, or File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files in QuickBooks Desktop. When no usable export exists, save the PDF statement and convert it instead.

How do I download an Amerant Bank statement as a PDF?

Log in to Amerant online banking, open the eStatements or documents area, choose the account and the month you need, and save it as a PDF. Amerant keeps about 24 months of statement history available online, so most recent months are there, but anything older may not be, which is a good reason to keep your own copies. The converter reads any of these the same way, so an older statement and a current one both produce a clean .qbo file.

How do I import an Amerant Bank statement into QuickBooks?

Convert the Amerant PDF to a .qbo file with the converter above, then import that file. In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and choose the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to, then sends them into the banking review queue for matching and categorizing, exactly as a working feed would, without needing a bank connection Amerant may not document for your account.

What an Amerant Bank statement looks like to the converter

Amerant statements convert cleanly whether they come from a personal account or a business account on the treasury platform. They list transactions in date order with a description and amount, separating deposits and credits from checks, withdrawals, and fees, with a beginning and ending balance summary. The converter strips out the summary boxes, fee tables, and inserts, so only real transactions reach your .qbo file, and it reads scanned or photographed statements through OCR the same way it reads a digital PDF.

When to convert versus connect the feed

Use a bank feed for going forward activity if your Amerant account offers a reliable one, since a live connection keeps QuickBooks current with little effort. Convert the PDF statement when no documented feed exists, when a business login through the treasury platform will not authenticate, or when you need history the feed misses: statements older than the online window, opening balances for a new QuickBooks file, a catch up period, or an account that changed hands in the 2019 rebrand or the 2024 Texas sale.

How accurate is the converted Amerant Bank file?

Accuracy is the part that matters most, because a converter that quietly drops or misreads a transaction costs far more time than it saves. The error usually surfaces during reconciliation, sometimes weeks later, while you chase a few dollars across a long register. This converter totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before it lets you export, so the .qbo you import reflects every line Amerant printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview first, then export once the numbers tie out.
