Upload your bank statement

Wise (formerly TransferWise) gives businesses a multi-currency account for holding and sending money in dozens of currencies, and it offers an official QuickBooks Online connection. That connection links Wise to QuickBooks through the standard online-banking bank feed, so it carries activity forward from the day you connect and pulls only a short recent window of history. For older months, a currency balance you closed, or a stretch where the feed stopped importing, upload a Wise PDF statement at the top of this page.

The converter turns a Wise multi-currency or business account PDF statement into a .qbo Web Connect file that imports into QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop, plus matching Excel and CSV copies. Every transaction keeps its date, description, and amount, and the parsed total is checked against the statement total before you export. This page covers whether Wise is a bank, how its QuickBooks connection works, the multi-currency and plan limits, and how to import any month by hand.

A real .qbo file QuickBooks accepts

Built for the statements US banks actually send, checked before it exports.

Reconciliation

Every total checked against the statement

The converter adds up the transactions it parsed and matches that to the statement total before you export, so nothing is silently dropped.

Web Connect

A genuine .qbo, not a renamed CSV

Valid OFX 1.02 with QuickBooks Web Connect headers. Online and Desktop import it as a standard bank feed.

OCR

Scans and phone photos read line by line

OCR runs before parsing, so a scanned or photographed paper statement comes out the same as a digital PDF.

Volume

A year of statements in one batch

Bulk upload for catch-up and cleanup work. Each file gets its own reconciliation check and its own exports.

Locked files

Password-protected PDFs handled

Enter the password on upload. Multi-column and multi-page statement layouts are parsed too.

Exports

Excel and CSV in the same download

One conversion, three files: the .qbo for QuickBooks, an XLSX to review, and a CSV for everything else.

How to convert your statement to QuickBooks

Three steps. No column-mapping wizard.

1

Upload the PDF statement

Drag in a PDF, a scan, or a phone photo. Password-protected and multi-page files are fine.

2

Review the reconciled rows

Every transaction is extracted and checked against the statement total. You see the parsed rows before exporting.

3

Import into QuickBooks

Download the .qbo and import it as a Web Connect bank feed. Excel and CSV are in the same download.

Questions worth answering

The specifics that decide whether the import is clean. If your case is not here, email [email protected].

Does Wise integrate with QuickBooks Online?

Yes. Wise has an official QuickBooks Online integration listed in the Intuit app store. It connects through QuickBooks banking and syncs transactions from your Wise currency accounts into the bank feed, and it can mark bills you pay through Wise as paid, recording the fees as bank charges. It works going forward, not as a full history import.

Is Wise a bank?

No. Wise is a financial technology company, not a bank. In the United States, Wise works with partner banks that hold customer funds, and balances can be eligible for pass-through FDIC insurance through those banks. Because Wise is not a US bank, QuickBooks often detects it as a non-US institution when you connect, which is normal.

How do I connect Wise to QuickBooks?

In QuickBooks Online, go to Transactions, then Bank transactions, then Link account, search for Wise, and sign in to your Wise account when redirected. You then choose which Wise business account to connect. Multi-currency syncing and marking bills as paid require a QuickBooks plan with the multicurrency feature turned on, so Simple Start will prompt an upgrade.

How far back does Wise sync to QuickBooks?

The Wise bank feed carries transactions forward from when you connect and pulls only a short recent window of prior activity, the way QuickBooks online-banking connections normally do. It does not backfill a full transaction history. For a closed period, last fiscal year, or activity from before you linked Wise, convert each Wise PDF statement to a .qbo instead.

Does Wise work with QuickBooks Desktop?

Wise's live connection is built for QuickBooks Online, not Desktop. To get Wise activity into QuickBooks Desktop, download the statement as a PDF and convert it to a .qbo Web Connect file, then import it through File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. The same converted file also works for Online if you would rather import by hand.

Why does QuickBooks detect Wise as a non-US bank?

Because Wise is a global financial technology provider rather than a chartered US bank, QuickBooks classifies the connection as a non-US or international institution. That can change which plan features apply and sometimes adds friction to the live feed. Converting the PDF statement to a .qbo sidesteps the classification, since you import the file into any US account you choose.

Does Wise multi-currency work with QuickBooks?

Wise holds each currency as a separate balance, and QuickBooks needs the multicurrency feature turned on to handle them, which rules out the Simple Start plan. Conversions and fees between currencies add lines that need careful coding. When a currency balance does not sync cleanly, convert that balance's PDF statement to a .qbo and import it into the matching account.

How do I download a Wise statement as a PDF?

Sign in to Wise, open Balances, choose the currency account you need, and open Statements or the documents area. Pick the date range and download the statement as a PDF. Wise issues a statement per currency balance, so save the ones you still need in QuickBooks, including months from before you connected the integration, and the converter reads each the same way.

How do I import a Wise statement into QuickBooks?

Convert the Wise PDF to a .qbo with the converter above, then import it. In QuickBooks Online, open Transactions, then Bank transactions, then Upload from file, and choose the .qbo. In QuickBooks Desktop, use File, then Utilities, then Import, then Web Connect Files. QuickBooks asks which account the transactions belong to and drops them into the review queue.

Why are some Wise transactions missing in QuickBooks?

Transactions go missing when the feed only loaded a short recent window, when a currency balance is not connected, or when the link broke and stopped importing. The fix is to find the months that did not come through, download those Wise statements as PDFs, convert each to a .qbo, and import them so the account ties back to the statement balance.

Does Wise charge for the QuickBooks integration?

Wise does not charge a separate fee to connect its account to QuickBooks; the integration is part of the Wise account. Your costs are the usual Wise transfer and conversion fees plus your QuickBooks subscription, which must include multicurrency to sync foreign balances. Converting a PDF statement to a .qbo is independent of either and works for any period.

How accurate is the converted Wise file?

Accuracy is what matters most, because a converter that misreads a line costs more time than it saves and tends to surface during reconciliation. This tool totals the transactions it parsed and checks that figure against the statement total before you export, so the .qbo reflects every payment, transfer, and fee the Wise statement printed. You review the parsed rows in the preview, then export.
