AutoEntry starts at $13 per month for 50 credits, but if you are buying it to process bank statements, credits are not documents. AutoEntry charges three credits for every page of a bank or credit card statement, and it charges for every page you upload, including blank pages and summary pages with no transactions on them. That turns the entry plan into roughly sixteen statement pages a month, not fifty documents, and it is the single number that decides whether AutoEntry is cheap or expensive for your practice.

Every price below was read directly from autoentry.com in September 2026 with the currency selector set to US Dollar, and the credit costs come from AutoEntry's own help center. Prices are shown excluding VAT and change without much notice, so check the vendor page before you sign up.

AutoEntry pricing: the US plans

Six published tiers, each one a monthly credit allowance rather than a feature set. This is worth saying clearly because it is unusual: every AutoEntry plan includes every feature and unlimited users. You are only buying volume.

Prices are excluding VAT, unused credits are kept for up to 90 days, and AutoEntry says you can downgrade or pause a plan at any time. The trial includes 25 free credits.

What a credit actually buys

This is the part that catches people out, and AutoEntry does publish it, just not on the pricing page next to the plan names. Different document types consume different numbers of credits.

Document typeCreditsWhat that means in practice
Purchase or sales invoice with no line items1 per invoiceThe cheapest thing AutoEntry processes
Purchase or sales invoice with line items2 per invoiceLine item capture doubles the cost of every invoice
Expense or receipt1 per receiptA shoebox of 40 receipts is 40 credits
Supplier statement2 per statementCharged per statement, not per page
Bank or credit card statement3 per pageCharged per page uploaded, including blank pages, summaries and notes pages

AutoEntry explains the three credit charge as the cost of the higher level of extraction a bank statement needs, which is a fair reason. The billing detail that matters more is the second half: the charge applies to every page in the file. A twelve page statement where four pages are terms, a summary and a blank reverse costs 36 credits, the same as if all twelve were dense transaction pages.

The math on a real bookkeeping practice

Take a small firm with ten clients, one checking account each, and an average statement length of eight pages. That is 10 times 8 times 3, which is 240 credits a month for bank statements alone. Gold, at 200 credits for $46, does not cover it. You are on Platinum at $103 before a single receipt or supplier invoice is uploaded.

Now add a second account for half those clients, which is normal once you count business credit cards. Five extra accounts at six pages each is another 90 credits, so 330 a month, and the receipts and bills that were the reason you bought a data capture tool in the first place still have to fit inside the same 500. Practices that run this math after signing up are the ones posting about surprise overage.

Monthly workloadCredits usedCheapest plan that covers itMonthly cost
1 business, 1 account, 8 page statement24Bronze (50 credits)$13
1 business, 3 accounts, 8 pages each72Silver (100 credits)$24
5 clients, 1 account each, 8 pages120Gold (200 credits)$46
10 clients, 1 account each, 8 pages240Platinum (500 credits)$103
10 clients, 1 account each, plus 200 invoices with line items640Diamond (1,500 credits)$298

Overage above your allowance is billed at a higher rate per credit than the credits inside your subscription, so the plan you land on is the plan you should size for, not a floor to creep past.

Why so many roundups still quote $12

If you compare a few AutoEntry reviews you will see Bronze quoted at $12, Silver at $23 and Diamond at $285. Those were the prices before AutoEntry raised subscription prices on 1 September 2025. The reason they keep circulating is that the machine readable product data embedded in AutoEntry's own pricing page still carries the older figures, with a validity date at the end of 2025, while the page a human sees renders the current $13, $24 and $298. Anything that scrapes the page instead of reading it repeats last year's numbers.

The practical lesson is the same one that applies to every tool in this category: read the vendor's own pricing page, with your own currency selected, on the day you buy. Comparison articles, including this one, go stale.

Where AutoEntry fits, and where it does not

AutoEntry is a strong product for what it was built for, which is supplier invoices, receipts and supplier statement reconciliation feeding Xero, QuickBooks or Sage. Unlimited users on every tier is genuinely generous, and for a firm whose bottleneck is purchase paperwork the per document cost is reasonable. If the bottleneck is further down the line, in approving and paying those bills rather than capturing them, that is a different category of tool and accounts payable automation is the thing to price instead.

Bank statements are the weaker fit, for two reasons. The per page pricing means historical work gets expensive fast: a two year catch up on one account is roughly 24 statements at maybe 8 pages each, which is 576 credits, or most of a Platinum month for a single client. And the output is transactions posted into your ledger rather than a bank feed file, so it does not slot into the reconciliation workflow the same way an imported statement does.

If converting statements is the actual job, a dedicated converter prices per statement rather than per page and returns a genuine .qbo Web Connect file that QuickBooks Online and Desktop treat as a normal bank feed import. That is the comparison we lay out on the AutoEntry alternative page, and it is why catch up work tends to leave credit based tools once the page count climbs.

How AutoEntry compares with Dext and Hubdoc on price

These three come up together in every bookkeeping software thread, and they price on completely different units, which is what makes them hard to compare.

ToolPricing unitBank statement handlingUsers
AutoEntryCredits per month, 6 published tiers from $133 credits per page, every page chargedUnlimited on all plans
DextPer client or per document allowance, tieredBank statement extraction is an add-on rather than coreVaries by plan
HubdocIncluded with some Xero plans, otherwise per subscriptionFetches statements from connected banks rather than reading uploadsUnlimited
A dedicated statement converterPer statement or per month, flatReads the PDF and exports a .qbo, XLSX and CSVDepends on plan

We have run the same exercise on Dext pricing and Hubdoc pricing. The pattern across all three is that the headline number is honest and the unit underneath it is where the surprise lives.

How to price AutoEntry for your own practice

Do this before the trial, not after. Count the bank and card accounts you would upload each month and multiply the total page count by three. Count the supplier invoices you would capture with line items and multiply by two. Add your receipts at one each and your supplier statements at two each. Compare the total with the tier table above, then add a margin, because a month with an extra client or a longer statement is the month you go into overage. If bank statement pages are more than about half your total, price a dedicated converter alongside it before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AutoEntry cost per month?

AutoEntry's US plans run from $13 per month for 50 credits (Bronze) up to $469 per month for 2,500 credits (Sapphire), read from autoentry.com in September 2026 with the US Dollar selector active. The tiers in between are Silver at $24 for 100 credits, Gold at $46 for 200, Platinum at $103 for 500 and Diamond at $298 for 1,500. Prices exclude VAT and anything above 2,500 credits is quoted after a demo.

What is an AutoEntry credit?

A credit is the unit AutoEntry bills processing in. One credit covers a purchase or sales invoice with no line items, or a single receipt. Two credits cover an invoice with line items or a supplier statement. Bank and credit card statements cost three credits per page. Your plan gives you a monthly credit allowance rather than a document allowance.

How many credits does a bank statement use in AutoEntry?

Three credits per page. AutoEntry charges for every page in the uploaded file, including blank pages, summary pages and notes sections that contain no transactions. A twelve page statement therefore costs 36 credits regardless of how many of those pages carry data, so the 50 credit Bronze plan covers about sixteen statement pages a month.

Does AutoEntry charge per user?

No. AutoEntry includes unlimited users on every plan, including the entry level Bronze tier. That is one of its genuine advantages over tools that price per seat, and it means adding staff or giving a client access does not change your bill. Your cost is driven entirely by document volume.

Do AutoEntry credits roll over?

Yes, up to a point. AutoEntry states that unused credits are kept for up to 90 days, so a quiet month is not entirely wasted. Credits used above your monthly allowance are treated as overage and charged at a higher rate per credit than the ones inside your subscription, which is the part worth sizing for.

Is there an AutoEntry free trial?

Yes. AutoEntry's trial includes 25 free credits with no upfront commitment. Be deliberate about how you spend them: 25 credits is about eight pages of bank statement, so upload a real statement rather than a single clean page if statement extraction is what you are evaluating.

Does AutoEntry work with QuickBooks Online?

Yes. QuickBooks Online is one of AutoEntry's supported accounting integrations, alongside Xero and Sage. Data flows in as posted transactions rather than as a bank feed file, which matters if your workflow depends on importing statements and matching them during reconciliation rather than on entries appearing in the ledger.

What happens if I go over my AutoEntry credit allowance?

Usage above the allowance is billed as overage at a higher rate per credit than the credits included in your subscription. It does not stop your processing, which is convenient in a busy month and expensive if it becomes the norm. If you are consistently in overage, moving up a tier lowers your cost per credit as well as removing the premium.

Is AutoEntry cheaper than a bank statement converter?

For invoices and receipts, usually yes. For bank statements, usually no, because the three credits per page unit scales with document length while a converter typically prices per statement or as a flat monthly plan. The crossover comes quickly on historical work: a two year catch up on one account can consume most of a $103 Platinum month on its own.

AutoEntry's pricing page is clear about what each plan costs and refreshingly clear that users are unlimited. The number it does not put next to the plans is the one that decides your bill: three credits per page for every bank statement page you upload. Work that out for your own document mix first, and the choice between AutoEntry, a rival capture tool and a dedicated statement converter usually answers itself.
