Dext pricing starts at $25.21 a month for the Business plan, which covers 250 documents a month and 5 users, or $302.50 billed annually. Accountants and bookkeepers buy a different product: Practice Essentials or Practice Advanced, billed per client per month with a minimum of 10 clients, and Dext does not publish those per client rates on its public pricing page. The number most buyers miss is that bank statement extraction is metered separately from the document allowance, at 10 sheets included per month on Business.
Last updated August 2026. Business plan price, annual price, document and user allowances and the included credit amounts were taken from Dext's own business pricing page in August 2026. Practice plan contents came from Dext's help center. Practice prices are region loaded and were not published at the time of checking, so any per client figure you see quoted elsewhere is a third party estimate, not a vendor number.
Dext pricing plans in full
Dext splits into two product lines that are easy to confuse. One is for a business keeping its own books. The other is for a firm keeping books for other people. They are priced on completely different bases.
| Plan | Who it is for | Price | Billing basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business | A company doing its own bookkeeping | $25.21 a month, or $302.50 billed annually | Flat, one company, 250 documents and 5 users included |
| Practice Essentials | Accountants and bookkeepers | Not published publicly, shown as a From price | Per client, per month, minimum 10 clients |
| Practice Advanced | Firms wanting workflows and practice insights | Not published publicly, shown as a From price | Per client, per month, minimum 10 clients |
Dext states annual billing is up to 20 percent cheaper on the Business plan, and $302.50 across twelve months works out at about $25.21 a month, so the annual saving shows up against the list rate rather than as a lower headline number. Both Practice plans carry a 14 day free trial, and the Business trial requires no payment details. The Business plan also has sliders that raise the document and user allowances in plan, so the $25.21 figure is a floor, not a ceiling.
What the 250 document allowance does not cover
This is the part comparison articles skip, and it is the single most expensive misunderstanding in Dext pricing. The 250 documents a month on the Business plan are receipts, bills and invoices. Bank statement extraction is a separate metered credit, and only a small allowance is included.
| Business plan allowance | Included per month | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | 250 | Receipts, invoices and bills |
| Users | 5 | Named users on the subscription |
| Bank Statement Extraction | 10 sheets | Pages of a PDF bank statement, bought as credits |
| Line Item Extraction | 5 documents | Detailed line pulls from receipts and invoices |
| Supplier Statement Extraction | 5 | Supplier statement reconciliation credits |
Ten sheets is roughly one bank statement. A business checking account with a normal amount of activity runs eight to fifteen pages a month, so a single statement can exhaust the included allowance before you have touched a second account. Dext's own wording is that you get free credits for these three extraction types and that you can buy more if you need them, and the company also sells add ons priced per client per month, including Data Health and Insights, Payments and Commerce Lite. If bank statements are the bulk of your workload rather than an occasional extra, price the credits before you commit, because the $25.21 headline will not be what you pay.
Why there is no public Dext price for accountants
Dext's partner pricing page lists Essentials and Advanced with a From label and a currency selector covering the USA, Canada, the UK, the European Union, Ireland, South Africa, APAC and Rest of the World. The actual per client rate loads by region and is not present in the page source, which is why the figures floating around review sites disagree with each other. Treat any specific per client dollar amount you read on a comparison site as unverified until Dext quotes it to you.
What Dext does publish is the structure, and the structure is what changes your budget. Billing is per client per month with a minimum of 10 clients, so a firm with four clients still pays for ten. Essentials includes the core feature set for every client under the subscription, including bank feeds and bank statement extraction, supplier rules, approvals, expense claims, Vault and supplier statement reconciliation, plus integrations with more than 36 accounting packages. Advanced adds an enhanced client list with bulk editing, Teams and Locations, Workflows for recurring client jobs, and practice level insights.
How Dext pricing compares with converting statements yourself
Dext is a capture platform. Its center of gravity is receipts and supplier invoices, with bank statements as one extraction type among several. If your reason for looking at Dext is specifically that you need bank transactions inside QuickBooks, the comparison looks different from the one on the feature page.
| Dext | bankqbo | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $25.21 a month for Business | $49 a month, or $24 a month billed annually |
| Bank statement capacity at entry price | 10 sheets included, more bought as credits | 2,500 pages a month on base AI |
| Plan that produces a .qbo file | Publishes direct accounting integrations rather than a downloadable .qbo, confirm with Dext | Plus, $149 a month or $74 a month billed annually |
| Receipts and supplier invoices | Core product, this is what Dext is built for | Not covered, this tool reads bank statements |
| Firm billing | Per client per month, 10 client minimum | Flat plan, client count irrelevant |
| Free entry | 14 day trial, no card on the Business trial | First 3 statements free, no card |
Neither column is the winner in the abstract. A firm drowning in shoebox receipts and supplier bills is buying the right thing when it buys Dext, and no statement converter substitutes for receipt capture, approvals or expense claims. If your team also needs somewhere to keep employee receipts and categorized spending after they are captured, that is a separate expense management job rather than something a bank statement tool should be doing. But a bookkeeper whose actual monthly pain is twenty client statements arriving as PDFs is paying capture platform prices for a conversion problem, and the credit meter is where that shows up.
Is Dext worth it for accountants and bookkeepers?
For firms where most inbound work is receipts and supplier invoices, yes, and the per client model scales sensibly once the client count is well above the ten client floor. The workflow features on Advanced earn their keep in practices standardizing recurring client jobs across a team.
For firms whose inbound work is bank statements, the honest answer is that Dext is priced for a different job. Work out your monthly sheet count first: multiply the number of client accounts by the average page count of their statements. If that number is in the hundreds, model the credit cost, not the plan cost, and compare it against a flat rate PDF to QBO converter before you sign an annual commitment.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Dext cost per month?
The Dext Business plan is listed at $25.21 a month, or $302.50 billed annually, and includes 250 documents a month and 5 users. Practice Essentials and Practice Advanced for accountants and bookkeepers are billed per client per month with a minimum of 10 clients, and Dext does not publish those per client rates publicly.
Does Dext have a free trial?
Yes. The Practice plans carry a 14 day free trial, and Dext states that no payment details are required to start a Business trial. That makes it straightforward to test extraction quality on your own documents before any card is involved.
Does Dext do bank statement extraction?
Yes, on both Practice plans and on the Business plan, but it is metered. The Business plan includes 10 sheets of bank statement extraction per month as free credits, and further sheets are bought separately. A sheet is a page, so one busy checking account can use the monthly allowance in a single statement.
What is the minimum number of clients for Dext Practice pricing?
Ten. Dext bills the Practice plans per client per month with a minimum of 10 clients, so a firm with fewer than ten clients still pays the ten client rate. That floor is the main reason very small practices end up looking at flat rate tools instead.
What is the difference between Dext Practice Essentials and Advanced?
Essentials carries the core feature set for every client on the subscription: capture, extraction and categorization, bank feeds and bank statement extraction, supplier rules, approvals, expense claims, Vault and supplier statement reconciliation. Advanced adds an enhanced client list with bulk editing, Teams and Locations, Workflows and practice level insights.
Does Dext export a .qbo file for QuickBooks?
Dext publishes direct integrations with more than 36 accounting packages rather than advertising a downloadable .qbo Web Connect file. If you specifically need the .qbo file itself, for example to import into QuickBooks Desktop or hand to a client, confirm the export options with Dext before buying, or convert the statement PDF to .qbo directly.
Is Dext cheaper than a bank statement converter?
At the headline price, yes. Once bank statement sheets are counted, often not. The Business plan is $25.21 a month with 10 sheets of statement extraction included, while a flat rate converter plan at $49 a month covers thousands of pages. Model your real monthly page count before comparing the two headline numbers.
What counts as a document in Dext?
A document on the Business allowance is a receipt, bill or invoice. Bank statement sheets, line item extractions and supplier statement extractions are counted separately as credits, which is why the 250 document figure does not tell you how many statements you can process.
Does Dext pricing include an annual discount?
Yes on the Business plan. Dext states annual billing is up to 20 percent cheaper, with the annual figure shown as $302.50. Practice plan billing terms are quoted per firm, so confirm the annual arrangement directly with Dext.
The buying rule that survives every version of this comparison is simple. Price the work you actually do, not the plan headline. Count your monthly statement pages, count your monthly receipts, and put both against the two meters before you commit to an annual plan.
