MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks is a subscription, not the one time license most comparison pages still describe. Plans run $24.95 to $99.95 per month, or $199.95 to $799.95 per year, and you are metered by conversions rather than by pages or by users. The widely repeated $599.95 figure is real, but it belongs to a different MoneyThumb product: the company's SMB lending and fraud detection API platform, which starts at $599.95 per year and does not list a QuickBooks output at all.

MoneyThumb pricing for QuickBooks conversions
MoneyThumb sells the QuickBooks converters as MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks, on three tiers that differ only by how many conversions you get. The annual plans are billed once and work out roughly a third cheaper than paying monthly.
| Plan | Monthly | Conversions | Annual | Conversions | Best annual rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $24.95 | 5 per month | $199.95 | 60 per year | $3.33 each |
| Standard | $49.95 | 20 per month | $399.95 | 240 per year | $1.67 each |
| Pro | $99.95 | 60 per month | $799.95 | 800 per year | $1.00 each |
MoneyThumb positions Individual at personal finance users, Standard at small businesses and Pro at accountants and bookkeepers. Standard and Pro both include unlimited users, which is unusual at this price point and genuinely useful for a firm where several staff convert statements. Pro adds priority support and an auto refill option so you do not stall mid month when the balance runs out.
What counts as a conversion
This is the part that decides whether the plan you picked is the right size, and MoneyThumb is unusually clear about it. One conversion is one monthly statement processed. A few rules follow from that, and they mostly work in your favor:
- Reconverting a file you already processed does not cost another conversion.
- Pricing is per statement, not per page, so an 80 page statement costs the same as a 3 page one.
- A PDF containing several months is split by month, and each month covered counts as one conversion.
- Unused conversions roll over when the subscription renews rather than expiring at the end of each month.
The multi month rule is the one to plan around. If you are doing catch up work and a client hands you a single PDF covering a full year, that is not one conversion, it is twelve. A firm cleaning up three years across two accounts is looking at roughly 72 conversions, which lands squarely in Pro territory rather than Standard.
The QuickBooks version limit nobody quotes
MoneyThumb states that its .qbo files import into all QuickBooks Online editions other than Self Employed, and into QuickBooks Desktop versions from 2023 to 2025. That Desktop range is worth reading twice if you are running an older installation, because it is a narrower window than most people assume when they buy a converter.
It also lines up with something outside MoneyThumb's control. Intuit ends connected services on a rolling schedule as Desktop versions age, and once those services stop, the Web Connect route a .qbo file travels through stops with them. The software itself keeps running, but the import path does not. If your Desktop version sits outside the supported window, the safer plan is moving the file to QuickBooks Online rather than buying any converter and hoping.
Why the $599.95 figure keeps appearing
MoneyThumb runs two quite different businesses under one brand, and search results blend them together. The pricing page you land on from a general search is titled around embedded fraud detection for SMB lending, and it prices an API platform in three tiers, PDF Server, PDF Insights and Enterprise, starting at $599.95 per year on a consumption model with volume discounts. Its listed outputs are API and JSON, Excel and CSV. There is no .qbo in that product's published output list.
The QuickBooks converters live on a separate track aimed at accounting professionals, small business owners and individuals, and that is where the $24.95 to $99.95 monthly plans sit. Older product URLs such as the 2qbo Convert Pro page now return a not found error, which is part of why stale pricing has been so persistent: reviewers cite a page that no longer exists, or quote the lending platform's annual entry price as though it were the cost of a desktop converter license. If your interest is genuinely the enterprise document processing side rather than QuickBooks, that is a market with several serious AI document data extraction platforms worth comparing before settling on one vendor.
How MoneyThumb compares with bankqbo on price
Straight answer: for .qbo output, MoneyThumb is cheaper than we are, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Our Plus plan is the tier that exports .qbo, at $149 per month or $888 per year, against MoneyThumb Pro at $99.95 per month or $799.95 per year. If price per statement is the only variable that matters to you, MoneyThumb wins that comparison.
Where the two differ is the billing unit, and that changes the answer depending on what your statements look like.
| Factor | MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks | bankqbo |
|---|---|---|
| Billing unit | Per statement converted | Per page processed |
| Entry price for .qbo output | $24.95 per month | $149 per month on Plus |
| Best annual rate | $799.95 per year, 800 conversions | $888 per year on Plus |
| Long statements | Same cost regardless of page count | Consumes pages from the plan allowance |
| Multi month PDFs | Charged one conversion per month covered | Charged by pages, not by periods |
| Users included | Unlimited on Standard and Pro | 3 seats on Plus |
| Free tier | Not offered | First 3 statements free, no card |
The practical read: if your work is a steady flow of long statements from a handful of accounts, per statement billing is hard to beat and MoneyThumb is the cheaper tool. If your work is many short statements, or you want to try a conversion before paying anything, page based billing and a free starting allowance suit that pattern better. Neither model is universally cheaper, which is why quoting a single headline price for this category is misleading.
Frequently asked questions
How much does MoneyThumb cost?
MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks costs $24.95, $49.95 or $99.95 per month depending on tier, or $199.95, $399.95 and $799.95 per year. Those buy 5, 20 and 60 conversions per month, or 60, 240 and 800 per year. The separate SMB lending and fraud detection API platform starts at $599.95 per year on a consumption model.
Is MoneyThumb a one time purchase or a subscription?
It is a subscription. MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks bills monthly or annually and meters usage by conversions. Many older reviews describe a perpetual desktop license for products such as 2qbo Convert Pro, but that product page now returns a not found error and the current published pricing is subscription based.
What counts as one MoneyThumb conversion?
One monthly statement processed. Page count does not matter, so a long statement costs the same as a short one, and reprocessing a file you already converted is free. A PDF spanning several months is split and charged one conversion for each month it covers, which matters most during catch up work.
Does MoneyThumb work with QuickBooks Desktop?
Yes, within a stated range. MoneyThumb says its .qbo files import into QuickBooks Desktop versions from 2023 to 2025, and into all QuickBooks Online editions except Self Employed. Desktop installations older than that range fall outside both MoneyThumb's stated support and, in most cases, Intuit's connected services window.
Do unused MoneyThumb conversions expire?
On the QuickBooks plans, unused conversions roll over when your subscription renews, so a slow month is not lost. On the lending API platform the terms differ: unused balance expires after twelve months, and renewing before then rolls the remainder into the new balance.
Does MoneyThumb charge per user?
No. Additional user seats are free and unlimited on the Standard and Pro QuickBooks plans, and the lending platform also advertises unlimited free seats. For a bookkeeping firm with several staff converting statements, that removes a per seat cost most competitors charge.
Does MoneyThumb read scanned bank statements?
Yes. MoneyThumb describes OCR and IDR technology built specifically for bank statements, and states that it converts scanned as well as native PDF statements. Historically its desktop products sold scanned support as a separate PDF+ add on, so check what the current online plan includes if scanned documents are the bulk of your work.
If you are weighing converters for a specific workflow rather than on price alone, the MoneyThumb alternative comparison covers the feature differences in more depth, the PDF to QBO converter page explains the conversion step itself, and firms running large catch up jobs will get more from bulk bank statement conversion and the QuickBooks cleanup software guide.
